Celebrating the Kodak Film Awards: Honoring Kristen Stewart, Joachim Trier, Salomon Ligthelm, Autumn Durald Arkapaw, and Patricia Keighley
The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Clubhouse was the venue for the 8th Annual Kodak Film Awards on Monday evening, where industry creatives celebrated the enduring legacy of analog film in the digital era.
The event highlighted the ongoing significance of film in the 2025–2026 awards season, showcasing Kodak-shot projects that include feature films, television shows, and independent films. Among this year’s Oscar nominees for Best Picture shot on film are an eclectic selection of titles such as Bugonia, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Jurassic World Rebirth, and Sentimental Value.
Kristen Stewart received the Debut Feature Award for her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, presented by Director of Photography Corey C. Water. This achievement places her alongside notable past recipients like Céline Song and Melina Matsoukas, each recognized for their unique voices in initial directing roles.
Filmmaker Joachim Trier was honored with the Auteur Award, presented by director Jason Reitman. This award commends filmmakers noted for their critically acclaimed works and dedication to their artistic vision. Trier’s latest project, Sentimental Value, recently won the Grand Prix at Cannes and secured nine Academy Award nominations. Kodak praised Trier for his “rigor and originality,” which continue to influence contemporary cinema.
Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw was awarded the Lumière Award for her contributions to projects like The Last Showgirl and the acclaimed Sinners, which has received 16 Academy Award nominations across various categories, including Best Cinematography.
Director Salomon Ligthelm was recognized as the recipient of the Music & Commercial Film Director Award, celebrating his remarkable creativity in music and commercial filmmaking. The Television Series of the Year Award went to Fallout, acknowledging its cinematic quality and contribution to episodic storytelling.
Christopher Nolan took the stage to present the inaugural Keighley Award to Patricia Keighley of IMAX. This award honors individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of large-format cinema. Kodak and Patricia Keighley plan to collaborate in selecting future honorees who embody excellence in theatrical presentation.
