Zizians Docuseries Coming to HBO
HBO Documentary Films has initiated production on a new documentary series focused on the Zizians, a group of young technologists described as cult-like, who have been implicated in a series of violent crimes across the United States between 2022 and 2025.
Reported by Tessa Stuart for Rolling Stone, the untitled series will be directed by Matthew Galkin, known for works like One Night in Idaho and Murder in the Bayou. Produced by XTR in collaboration with Rolling Stone Films, the series is set to air on HBO and stream on HBO Max, with a premiere date to be announced.
The series aims to provide an in-depth look at the origins and evolution of the Zizians, exploring how the group formed, how it operates, and the attention it has garnered due to its extreme ideology and alleged violent actions. It will delve into the Zizians’ unique blend of AI safety concerns, radical veganism, and the cultural and technological influences that have shaped their development.
Jenna M. Kelly will serve as the showrunner and executive producer. She is joined by Justin Lacob, Matthew Cherchio, and Bryn Mooser from XTR, as well as Alexandra Dale and Tessa Stuart from Rolling Stone Films. Zackary Drucker will also take on the role of executive producer.
