Netflix Poland Introduces a New Comedy Detective Film and Offers a Sneak Peek at the TV Adaptation of the Beloved Novel ‘The Doll’
Netflix Unveils New Comedy and Series Adaptation in Poland
Netflix has announced the production of a new comedy film focusing on a women’s detective agency, along with a first look at its television adaptation of the renowned Polish novel The Doll. This unveiling occurred during a global event held by the streaming service this week.
Set against the backdrop of a modern-day Poland, the comedy Revenge features performers Vanessa Aleksander and Izabela Kuna, who portray members of a detective agency investigating claims of infidelity among partners.
Additionally, Netflix showcased a glimpse of The Doll, a series adaptation of Bolesław Prus’ classic work. The show, set in 19th-century Warsaw, stars Sandra Drzymalska and Tomasz Schuchardt, delving into a complex narrative rooted in historical intrigue.
The Doll is among several projects highlighted during the event, including the film Lead Children. This narrative follows a committed doctor, played by Joanna Kulig, as she battles a lead poisoning epidemic, with its release scheduled for February 11.
In further developments, Netflix has revealed that its biopic focusing on rock guitarist Jan Borysewicz will be titled Less of a Stranger and is slated to premiere later this year. Additional projects in the pipeline include Jan P. Matuszyński’s first Netflix movie, Saint, the region’s inaugural medical procedural titled Anaesthesia, and the second season of Mothers of Penguins.
On the unscripted front, Love is Blind Poland is set to launch later this year as part of the franchise’s ongoing expansion.
"This year we aim to surprise our audience with even more variety – including new genres across our Polish original productions and creators with whom we are working for the first time, on top of highly anticipated returning stories and characters," said Łukasz Kłuskiewicz, Netflix’s CEE content lead. Kłuskiewicz previously discussed Netflix’s impact in Poland, including its most costly production to date, Heweliusz.
As the streaming service continues to invest in local content, these announcements highlight its commitment to expanding its offerings in Poland and beyond.
