Teyana Taylor Shares Heartfelt Moment Meeting Her Idol Julia Roberts at the 2026 Golden Globes

In a heartwarming moment at the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards held on January 11, 2026, Teyana Taylor visibly expressed her emotions as she met esteemed actress Julia Roberts on the red carpet. Taylor, 35, wiped tears from her eyes during their encounter, reflecting the significance of the moment for her.
The emotional connection was palpable as Taylor, who won her first Golden Globe for her performance in One Battle After Another, embraced Roberts, 58. Videos from the event captured the pair laughing and sharing a hug as the excitement of the evening unfolded. Taylor recounted her feelings during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, illustrating the impact of meeting one of her idols.
“It was too much happening tonight. She parted the sea for me,” Taylor said, recalling the moment Roberts made her way through the crowd. “Oh my God, it looked so magical that when she came close to me, I was like, ‘Don’t come another step, don’t come another step further. My eyes are getting watery.’”
Taylor emphasized how significant Roberts is to her, saying, “I could not believe that I was meeting her. She’s literally one of my heroes, and what she poured into me literally had me crying… She poured so much life into me, and I needed that.”
The awards show recognized Taylor not just for her individual achievement but also spotlighted her role in One Battle After Another, which received the prestigious award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film’s writer-director, Paul Thomas Anderson, also garnered accolades, winning two awards for his contributions as both director and screenwriter.
In the press room, Taylor, still in disbelief over her win, expressed her gratitude. “I’m filled with so much gratitude. I don’t take any of this for granted,” she stated, encapsulating the emotional weight of the evening.
Following her Golden Globe victory, Taylor is anticipated to compete again, as she has received a nomination for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2026 Actor Awards to be held on March 1, 2026.

Roberts too made headlines during the event by receiving a standing ovation as she presented the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy award to One Battle After Another. Although she was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in After the Hunt, the award ultimately went to Jessie Buckley for her performance in Hamnet.
As Taylor’s accolades continue to mount, her star is on the rise in Hollywood.
