Two Arrested and Two Still At Large Following Police Chase Linked to Catalytic Converter Theft
Two Arrested, Two Escape After Police Pursuit in Los Feliz
LOS ANGELES — A police chase in Los Feliz resulted in the arrest of two suspects while two others remain at large following a crash that occurred after officers intervened in an ongoing catalytic converter theft.
The incident unfolded near the intersection of Vermont and Los Angeles, where patrol officers observed four men appearing to tamper with a parked vehicle. Suspecting a theft in progress, the officers approached the scene. The suspects responded by fleeing in an Infiniti, initiating a brief pursuit.
According to police, the chase lasted just 28 seconds, culminating in a crash along Western Avenue, north of Franklin. Officers found several suspected stolen catalytic converters and tools typically associated with their removal inside the vehicle.
The two suspects apprehended include a 23-year-old driver, both of whom are now facing multiple felony charges. Meanwhile, the two remaining suspects were able to escape and are still sought by law enforcement.
Residents of the Los Feliz area reported, off camera, that their neighborhood has faced significant issues with catalytic converter thefts over the years. Police have corroborated these claims, indicating that the area has been notably impacted by such crimes.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not yet released the names of the suspects in custody.
