Trevor Noah’s Epstein Island Joke at the Grammys Triggers Trump’s Lawsuit Threat: “He’s a Total Loser, Better Check His Facts”
If Trevor Noah aimed to provoke a reaction from Donald Trump during his hosting of the Grammys, he may have succeeded. The former president has responded with vehemence to Noah’s remarks, threatening legal action against the comedian.
Trump, known for his quick retorts to criticism, took to social media to express his outrage. “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty,” he wrote on Sunday shortly after the star-studded Grammy Awards concluded on CBS. He also added, “Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
In his post, Trump seemed particularly offended by a jab Noah made at his expense, referencing Trump’s ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein. The comment that sparked the tension suggested that Trump wanted something akin to what was lost on Epstein’s island. Noah quipped, “Song of the Year — that is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.” The remark drew laughter and applause from the audience.
Trump’s reaction was swift. He claimed Noah’s statement was false and defamatory, insisting he had never visited Epstein’s island, a point he emphasized bombastically: “WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island.” His post reflected his deep-seated sensitivity to public perception.
This exchange comes shortly after the Department of Justice released a significant volume of redacted documents related to Epstein, including names of numerous high-profile individuals. Trump’s name appeared multiple times in the long-anticipated release, alongside disturbing allegations. The controversy surrounding Epstein continues to loom large, even as Trump’s connection remains a topic of intense scrutiny.
Despite admitting to knowing Epstein in the past, Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing. Accusations from alleged victims have circulated, yet no formal charges linking him directly to Epstein’s sex trafficking operations have been substantiated. This ongoing specter casts a shadow over Trump’s political narrative.
The 2026 Grammy Awards marked a pivotal moment, as it was the last ceremony to air on CBS after decades of tradition. Starting in 2027, the Grammys will transition to ABC in a new agreement with Disney, continuing a legacy that will now unfold on different screens through 2036.
