Darrell Sheets of ‘Storage Wars’ Passes Away at 67
Darrell Sheets, a prominent figure in the A&E reality competition series Storage Wars, died early this morning at his home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was 67.
According to the Lake Havasu City police, Sheets died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His body has been transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation.
Born on May 13, 1958, in California, Sheets participated in 163 episodes of Storage Wars from 2010 to 2023, competing against others for abandoned and unopened storage lockers at auction. The outcome of each episode hinges on the value of the contents within these lockers.
Following a heart attack in 2019, Sheets largely stepped back from the storage locker trade. He made infrequent appearances on the show in recent years after relocating to Arizona, where he operated an antiques store.
A brief biography on the series’ website highlights Sheets’ long-standing fascination with storage auctions, describing him as “addicted to the ‘high’ of storage auctions for 32 years.” The bio notes, “While others have turned the gambling side of storage buying into steady businesses, Darrell is always going for the ‘big hit.’” He has been known to boast about having acquired four Picassos and what he claimed to be the world’s most lucrative comic book collection through storage auctions.
The biography concludes, “After years in the business, Darrell no longer collects: ‘The only thing I collect these days is dead presidents.’ Darrell takes pride in the adventure and education storage buying has provided him. It’s a lifestyle and skill set he hopes to pass on to his son [Brandon].”
As of now, complete information regarding survivors has not been disclosed.
