Carrie Preston from Elsbeth Shares Her Thoughts on Welcoming High-Profile Guest Stars
Carrie Preston Teases More Guest Stars and a Bright Future for Elsbeth
As Elsbeth approaches its season finale on CBS, star Carrie Preston shared exciting news about upcoming guest appearances, hinting at a star-studded conclusion to the third season.
Preston expressed her enthusiasm, recounting a memorable moment while filming. "And let me just tell you, I got to sit there and have Patti LuPone serenade me. What? Yeah! Yep," she stated. "So you have that to look forward to because it was pretty extraordinary, and you have to do it over and over again when you’re doing a TV show, so I just got to sit there and bask in her glory."
Looking ahead, Preston is eager to see what the fourth season holds. "I’m so excited," she noted. "I have a little break now, and then the fact that we get to do 20 more means we get to explore 20 more worlds in New York City. That means we get to have 20 more amazing guest stars."
Preston emphasized the show’s inviting atmosphere for guest actors, revealing that even acclaimed actor Steve Buscemi expressed interest in joining the cast. "I hope that and trust that we’ve made it clear that we’re like a really fun place to come and work," she said. "Steve Buscemi even asked if he could be on the show. He was watching the show and loved it, and his wife watched it. He called his agents and asked if we had something for him. And we were like, ‘Yeah, absolutely! We have something for Steve Buscemi.’ He got to play something different than what he normally gets to play, and it was good."
Preston also highlighted her desire to reintroduce characters from previous series she appeared in, such as The Good Wife and The Good Fight. "Anyone from that universe is totally welcome!" she remarked.
One notable absence in the upcoming episodes will be her real-life husband, Michael Emerson, who played Elsbeth’s nemesis, Judge Milton Crawford, before his character met a dramatic end. "That’s like the whale, the Moby Dick, that she could not catch," she explained. "Even after he’s not here anymore, it’s just haunting her."
Her praise for guest stars extended to Tracey Ullman, who took on varied roles across seasons. "I think all of our guest stars are extraordinary, and I am happy to say that we’re probably the only show that brought Tracey Ullman on last season as one character and has brought her on this season as a completely different character," Preston noted. "We’ve got this whole dream that every season she’ll come on and play another killer."
Fans can expect more updates and behind-the-scenes insights as the show progresses.
