Tragic Accident Claims Life of 13-Year-Old Motorcyclist in Garden Grove
A family is grieving the loss of a 13-year-old boy who died following a motorcycle accident in Garden Grove earlier this week, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, near Magnolia Street and Larson Avenue. Police reported that the boy was riding an electric motorcycle at approximately 35 mph when he collided with the center median, resulting in a loss of control.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly, transporting the boy to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Eduardo Avalos, a witness to the crash, recounted his efforts to assist. “The bike was right here, the shoe was here and the kid was there gasping for air,” Avalos stated. Noticing that the boy’s helmet strap seemed to restrict his breathing, he removed it and provided aid until first responders arrived. Avalos added, “We knew the kid. He was always on his bike…It was just going too fast.”
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy’s loss of control while riding. The child’s name has not yet been released.
