The Golden Life Won’t Be Available on Hulu, Contrary to Claims by Former RHONY Star Sonja Morgan
When NBCUniversal transitioned its cable networks, including E!, to Versant, a key question arose regarding the streaming platform for its shows now that they are no longer associated with Peacock.
Recently, the company secured a significant agreement with Hulu for the streaming rights to earlier episodes of The Kardashians.
Under the new ownership, E! is set to debut one of its first original shows, The Golden Life. This series will feature former cast members of The Real Housewives of New York, who embark on new adventures in Florida.
Sonja Morgan, one of the stars, announced on Instagram that The Golden Life, which also includes Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and Kelly Bensimon, will be available for streaming on Hulu while simultaneously airing on E!.
Morgan expressed optimism about the series, stating, “Everything is on the table to discuss, and again, we have a lot more flexibility to consider things. We are talking to all the streamers, everyone we know. Friendly competition now can be partners, and I think that’s really going to open the floodgates.”
Produced by Blink49 Studios, the series will document the group as they reconnect in Florida, navigating personal milestones and social scenes together in what they describe as a new “golden” era. Filming is scheduled to commence this spring.
Morgan added, “When the show was pitched to us, we were like, ‘Yeah, we want to see it too.’ We want them to come back. We’re excited that they are now snowbirds. They will come down to the south over the winter, so we’ll be shooting them this winter for the next few months. They are still fabulous as ever, and it’s not really your flipping table kind of show. It’s more of like a Mahjong table kind of show.”
However, the series has already faced some controversy. Jill Zarin was initially set to star but was removed from the cast after making racist remarks regarding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Following Zarin’s comments, Blink49 Studios released a statement, noting, “In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life. We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
Morgan previously appeared on RHONY starting in Season 7, gaining popularity for hosting parties at her Blue Stone Manor and her iconic catchphrases. After six seasons as a full-time housewife, she was infamously “put on pause” in Season 13. She later participated in Peacock’s Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip and competed on The Traitors for multiple seasons.
