EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of the Cannes market, Capture Entertainment has secured international sales rights to the romance drama The Sun Never Sets, which premiered recently at SXSW.
Written and directed by Joe Swanberg, known for Drinking Buddies, the film features Dakota Fanning, Jake Johnson, and Cory Michael Smith, alongside Debby Ryan, Anna Konkle, Lamorne Morris, and Karley Sciortino.
Johnson, Fanning, and Smith take on producing roles alongside Swanberg and Ashleigh Snead, with Dan Johnson, Kathy Gitibin Parsa, and Ariana Parsa serving as executive producers. The film was shot on 35mm by cinematographer Eon Mora, capturing the stunning backdrop of Alaska.
In The Sun Never Sets, Wendy (Fanning) faces upheaval when her boyfriend Jack (Johnson) requests a pause in their relationship. While navigating this emotional uncertainty, she finds herself reconnecting with her adventurous ex, Chuck (Smith), leading her into a love triangle that forces her to choose between her past and her future.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Independent Film Company has acquired U.S. rights and plans to release the film later this year.
Ella Field, EVP of International Sales at Capture Entertainment, remarked, “Working with Joe Swanberg is a career high in itself—made even more extraordinary by a career-best turn from Dakota Fanning, the irresistible humor of Jake Johnson, and the undeniable charm of Cory Michael Smith. We can’t wait for audiences to experience this authentic, hilarious, and heartfelt film.”
