Taron Egerton Pursues Charlize Theron in Netflix’s Exciting New Survival Thriller ‘Apex’
Charlize Theron faces a chilling threat in the recently released trailer for the new survival thriller, Apex. The film, directed by Baltasar Kormákur and featuring Taron Egerton as a relentless serial killer, plunges viewers into a high-stakes chase set against the harsh backdrop of the Australian wilderness.
The official description details Theron’s character as “a grieving woman” who ventures into the wild only to find herself ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse with Egerton’s character. The trailer intensifies the atmosphere with an ominous voiceover stating, “You’re special, Sasha. I already know about you,” setting the stage for a gripping narrative.
The voiceover further heightens the tension: “Danger makes you feel alive. Perfection’s the only option. But this is completely different. You think you can handle that? Run for your life.”
Theron, who participated in filming under challenging conditions, spoke about her experience at Netflix’s 2025 upfront event in May. She humorously recounted how she hid a fractured toe while on set in Australia, quipping, “God, I miss early mornings in the wilderness, birds chirping, extremes babbling, and the leaves rustling as a serial killer waits for me. It’s actually a miracle that I’m here today. Apex only wrapped like a week ago, so I’m fresh off the mountain. I still have some Australian dirt under this pretty manicure, and my cute boot is hiding a fractured toe.”
Reflecting on the filming experience, Theron described it as “one of the most incredible experiences” of her life. She noted the breathtaking locations, emphasizing, “We shot in beautiful locations, deep in gorgeous and stunning rivers in Australia, is no man’s land, literally no like no man’s land.”
Theron also mentioned that she performed some stunts and action scenes “without awareness” and expressed excitement about exceeding her previous work in Old Guard 2.
Apex is set to premiere globally on Netflix on April 24.
