Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cecily Strong Join Forces for New Nanny Squatter Limited Series on Apple
Apple is reportedly close to finalizing a series order for a limited series featuring two former Saturday Night Live cast members, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cecily Strong.
The upcoming untitled project is inspired by a New York Magazine article titled “The Nanny Squatter.” It will be directed by Mary Bronstein, who also helmed If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, in collaboration with Apple Studios.
The plot revolves around a couple whose seemingly perfect caregiver disrupts their lives, leading to blurred boundaries and a diminishing sense of control as tensions escalate into a power struggle.
The article, published in October, features the tagline: "A couple thought they’d found Mary Poppins. Until she refused to leave."
Bronstein will take on multiple roles, including writer, director, and showrunner. In addition to the creative team, she will executive produce alongside Louis-Dreyfus, Strong, and Scoop Wasserstein, who manages scripted development and production for New York Magazine under Vox Media Studios. Variety initially reported the news.
