Spencer Pratt Talks About His Plans to Change the Game in L.A. as He Runs for Mayor
Spencer Pratt Announces Run for Los Angeles Mayor Amid Criticism of Current Leadership
Reality television personality Spencer Pratt has officially launched his campaign for mayor of Los Angeles. The announcement came during a rally organized by residents of Pacific Palisades, commemorating the first anniversary of the devastating Los Angeles fires.
At the event, Pratt stated, “The system in Los Angeles isn’t struggling; it’s fundamentally broken. It is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they exchange favors with while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash.” He emphasized the urgency for change, declaring, “Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles. I’m done waiting for someone to take real action. That’s why I am running for mayor.”
Pratt further characterized his campaign as a mission rather than a traditional political endeavor, affirming, “We are going to expose the system. We are going into every dark corner of LA politics and disinfecting the city with our light.”
The reality star, known for his role on MTV’s The Hills, has been an outspoken critic of current Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom, particularly in light of their responses to last year’s fires. Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag, also a former star of The Hills, lost their home in the disaster.
Mayor Bass, who assumed office in 2022 and is now seeking re-election, responded to Pratt’s candidacy with skepticism. Douglas Herman, a spokesperson for Bass’s campaign, remarked, “It’s no shock that in advance of his imminent book release, a reality TV ‘villain’ who once staged a fake divorce to boost ratings and spent the last summer spewing post-fire misinformation and disinformation to pump up his social media following, would now announce he’s running for Mayor.”
