In July 2024, director Emerald Fennell revealed her plans for the adaptation via a post on X. After a competitive bidding process, Fennell secured a deal with Warner Bros., as reported by Variety, which indicated that the film would premiere just in time for Valentine’s Day 2026.

This upcoming adaptation adds to a long legacy of Wuthering Heights films dating back to 1939. Notable portrayals of the star-crossed lovers include Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, as well as Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche in 1992.

In 2009, Tom Hardy met his wife Charlotte Riley while co-starring in one of two television adaptations. The story has also been explored in series from 1978 and 1998.

Filming for Wuthering Heights commenced in 2025, utilizing scenic locations in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, England. Reports indicate that filming took place in valleys such as Arkengarthdale and Swaledale, as well as in key spots like the village of Low Row and Surrender Bridge, famous from the series All Creatures Great and Small.

In March 2025, Robbie was seen in an elaborate wedding dress during filming, adding to the excitement surrounding the adaptation.

Trailer Information

A teaser trailer for Wuthering Heights was released in September 2025, followed by a full-length trailer in November. These previews highlight the emotional tension between Catherine and Heathcliff, showcasing their tumultuous relationship.

The trailer depicts Catherine on the verge of marriage when Heathcliff reappears, eager to reignite their connection. Accompanying the visuals is original music from Charli XCX, alongside sweeping views of the moorlands integral to the narrative.
