Six Individuals Sought in International Jewelry and Watch Theft Case
LAPD Investigates Transnational Organized Crime Group Linked to Jewelry Thefts
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is seeking six individuals in connection with an organized crime group allegedly responsible for thefts across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada since at least 2016. The announcement was made on Thursday, following a month-long investigation.
The investigation has already led to the arrest of two individuals and the identification of six more suspects tied to various thefts, including a notable incident that occurred on December 16 in Los Angeles. Authorities believe that these crimes are linked to a transnational organized crime network.
During the execution of a search warrant related to the December incident, LAPD officers recovered stolen watches, jewelry, and clothing. Additionally, fraudulent forms of identification, passports, and other documents were found.
While details regarding the suspects’ apprehension remain unclear, police are urging the public to assist in identifying further potential crimes associated with this group. A news release from the LAPD included photos of the six individuals being sought.
Detectives from multiple divisions, including the Rampart and Wilshire Divisions, collaborated with the police departments of Glendale, Arcadia, and Pasadena, as well as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Jewelers Security Alliance, to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact Rampart Division Detective Jose Hidalgo at 213-713-2932.
