Canadian rap icon Drake has officially released his latest project, Iceman SZN, introducing not one, but three new albums: Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour.
The albums debuted on Friday, May 15, marking Drake’s first solo studio releases since 2023’s For All the Dogs. That earlier album set the stage for last year’s high-profile rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
Drake had been building anticipation for Iceman for months, with viral singles like “What Did I Miss?” and the Central Cee collaboration “Which One.” This much-anticipated album features notable guest appearances by Molly Santana, 21 Savage, and Future. Future’s involvement is particularly interesting, as his single “Like That” sparked a series of diss tracks aimed at Drake in 2024. Notably, Future appears on “Ran to Atlanta,” a song that references their ongoing competitive dynamic. The album cover, featuring a bedazzled white glove displaying the “6,” symbolizes Drake’s reflections on recent years, addressing themes of betrayal in tracks like “National Treasures” and examining his emotional state in “Make Them Cry.”
In a nod to Michael Jackson, Drake also included family photos for Maid of Honour. This album features collaborations with Stunna Sandy, Sexyy Red, Central Cee, Popcaan, and Iconic Savvy, delivering a mix of summer-appropriate tracks designed for club settings and road trips alike. Highlights include the anticipated strip club anthem “Cheetah Print,” featuring Sexyy Red, and the catchy “Outside Tweaking” by Stunna Sandy. Songs like “Hoe Phase” and “Amazing Shape” underscore Maid of Honour as the go-to soundtrack for those enjoying outdoor adventures.
The third album, Habibti, showcases collaborations with Qendresa, Loe Shimmy, Partynextdoor, and Sexyy Red. Translating to “my dear” in Arabic, this album leans into Drake’s R&B influences, appealing to a female audience. Standout tracks such as “Slap the City” and “I’m Spent” shine, while “Fortworth” raises curiosity about a potential sequel to $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
With over 43 new tracks released across these albums, the music community is eager to identify fan favorites.
