Scott Free Names Jillian Kay as Senior Vice President of Film Production
EXCLUSIVE: Jillian Kay has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Film Production at Scott Free Productions, where she will report to Film President Michael Pruss.
Kay most recently held the position of Head of Film at Sugar23, where she produced Michael Keaton’s Knox Goes Away and managed a diverse slate of projects, including Spy House with Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen for Universal, and Netflix’s I Would Only Rob Banks With My Family featuring Adam Sandler, along with Paladin, directed by Gabe Basso and Darrin Prescott.
“Joining Scott Free is the ultimate dream, especially given its storied history of legendary films and filmmaking,” Kay stated. “In a time of major industry change, Scott Free remains a prolific powerhouse, and I’m thrilled to work with Ridley, Justin, Mike, and the team to help carry forward its extraordinary legacy.”
Prior to her tenure at Sugar23, Kay worked as a film executive at MRC, contributing to notable projects such as Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines. She also collaborated on Rian Johnson’s Knives Out and Stephen King’s Dark Tower. Kay began her career at Lionsgate and has also worked for Chris Morgan Productions and Universal Pictures.
Michael Pruss expressed enthusiasm about Kay’s arrival: “We are thrilled that Jillian is joining our Scott Free film team. Her proven track record as both an executive and a producer speaks for itself, not to mention her deep relationships across all aspects of our industry. Jillian’s arrival sets us up perfectly for what is shaping up to be a very busy year ahead.”
Building on the success of last year’s Apple TV hit Echo Valley, featuring Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney, and Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut The Chronology of Water with Imogen Poots, Scott Free is anticipating another productive year for its film division. The company is preparing for the release of Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Guy Pearce, and gearing up to start production on The Riders for A24, directed by Edward Berger and starring Brad Pitt. Additionally, Scott Free is fast-tracking the next installment of the Alien franchise following the global success of Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus.
Other projects slated for release this year include Inground, featuring Jon Cho and Alexandra Daddario, and Here Be Monsters at Paramount, with Joachim Rønning directing a script co-written by Rønning, Noah Harpster, and Micah Fitzerman-Blue.
Scott Free is represented by CAA and Gang Tyre Ramer.
