Sasha Calle Joins the Cast of ‘The Exorcist’ Franchise
Sasha Calle, fresh off her success with the Netflix film The Rip, has officially signed on for a role in the upcoming installment of the iconic horror franchise, The Exorcist. The film, directed by Mike Flanagan, is set to be released in theaters by Universal on March 12, 2027.
Details regarding Calle’s character and the plot remain confidential, but it has been confirmed that the film will present an all-new story within The Exorcist universe, rather than serving as a sequel to the 2023 film, The Exorcist: Believer. The cast will also include prominent actors such as Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane.
In addition to directing, Flanagan will produce the film through his Red Room Pictures banner, collaborating with David Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment and Jason Blum for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Executive producers include Alexandra Magistro from Red Room Pictures and Ryan Turek from Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
Calle recently shared the screen with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in Joe Carnahan’s The Rip, which held the #1 position on Netflix’s global English-language film list for three weeks and continues to rank at #7.
The actress made her feature film debut portraying Supergirl in Warner Bros.’ The Flash, becoming the first Latina actress to take on the iconic superhero role in a major studio film. She also appeared in Daniel Minahan’s On Swift Horses, alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones, Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, and Diego Calva. Furthermore, she stars in Alessandra Lacorazza Samudio’s In the Summers, which received both Grand Jury and Directing Awards at Sundance 2024.
Looking ahead, Calle will also appear alongside Colin Farrell in Season 2 of Apple’s Sugar. She is represented by CAA and Del Shaw Moonves.
