Rhea Seehorn Thrilled About New Series ‘Pluribus’ and Its Nominations
Rhea Seehorn, known for her role in the upcoming sci-fi series Pluribus, expressed her enthusiasm following the show’s debut and its recognition from major award bodies. The series, created by Vince Gilligan, premiered on November 7 on Apple TV with two episodes and is already stirring discussions among viewers.
The narrative of Pluribus, which remained a closely guarded secret prior to its launch, has become a topic of lively conversation. Seehorn mentioned the joy of receiving “a wonderful onslaught of text messages” and is grateful for the opportunity to discuss the show openly.
Pluribus has garnered nominations for Best Television Series – Drama at the Golden Globes and for Best Drama Series at the Critics Choice Awards. Apple ordered two seasons of the show back in 2022, and the Season 1 finale is set to air on December 26.
In an interview, Seehorn reflected on her collaboration with Gilligan, noting the gratifying nature of the audience’s engagement. “It’s inspiring conversations with people,” she said. Viewers are not just watching; they are analyzing and sharing their experiences, creating a shared ritual of “appointment television.”
When asked about her initial reaction to her role, Seehorn admitted that she accepted the part without knowing much about it, simply trusting Gilligan’s vision. “I knew that I would be in a position where I would be challenging myself, but also fully supported,” she shared.
Seehorn highlighted the unpredictable nature of the series as something that keeps her engaged as an actor. “I never know what’s coming,” she explained, mentioning how she shares the audience’s journey through the unfolding story.
Discussing her character, Seehorn noted that interpretations of Carol’s role are varied and intriguing. She appreciates the diverse perspectives brought by her co-stars and guest appearances, indicating that their contributions enrich the dialogue surrounding the show.
Looking ahead to the season finale, Seehorn described her reaction to the scripts as “bananas,” echoing her excitement for what’s to come. “I was immediately, desperately needing Season 2,” she stated, revealing that she is eager to see how the story expands.
Seehorn expressed optimism for the character’s development, as she believes the writers will continue to explore Carol’s complexity amidst the sci-fi backdrop. “I hope we continue this sort of very everyman human in the middle of what’s being asked of her,” she added.
When asked how Carol would react to the Golden Globe nomination, Seehorn laughed, suggesting that the character’s self-deprecating nature would likely prompt her to downplay the achievement, even as Seehorn herself takes the time to revel in the recognition.
As Seehorn navigates this exciting chapter of her career, the response to Pluribus suggests the series has struck a chord with both critics and audiences alike.
