RAYE Steps Into Film with Her Role in the New Thriller ‘Lineage’
RAYE Set for Acting Debut in New Thriller
British singer-songwriter RAYE, featured on the cover of Billboard‘s May 2026 issue, is poised to make her acting debut in the upcoming crime thriller Lineage, directed by Yann Demange, known for his work on Top Boy and ’71. The film will also star French actors Dali Benssalah, Adam Bessa, and Isabelle Huppert, as reported by Variety.
Although RAYE previously appeared as herself in the 2025 Netflix series Black Rabbit, Lineage marks her first substantial acting role. The film, based on a story by Demange and adapted for the screen by Edna Walsh, unfolds in modern-day London and follows Tariq, a father attempting to rebuild his life after incarceration. Production is set to commence in August in London.

RAYE’s foray into acting follows the release of her second studio album, This Music May Contain Hope, in March. The album reached No. 11 on the Billboard 200, featuring her highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100, “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!,” which also peaked at No. 11. In her recent interview with Billboard, she expressed the freedom of creating music without the constraints of a record label.
On May 13, RAYE will wrap up the North American leg of her tour, This Tour May Contain New Music, before heading to London for two performances at The O2 Arena. Additionally, she is nominated for Best Vocal Performance for “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” at the American Music Awards on Memorial Day, May 25.
