Prime Video to Premier Exciting Legal Drama ‘System’ This Month
Prime Video Set to Release New Indian Film on May 22
Prime Video has announced the global launch of its latest Indian film, System, directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, scheduled for May 22. The film will be available in 240 territories worldwide.
System is a high-stakes legal drama featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Jyotika, and Ashutosh Gowariker. The film was initially unveiled in March during the Prime Video Presents upfront in India, which showcased a total of 69 film and television titles.
Produced by Baweja Studios, the film’s production team includes Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja, and Smitha Baliga, while the screenplay is penned by a team that includes Harman Baweja, Arun Sukumar, Tiwari, Tasneem Lokhandwala, and Akshat Ghildial.
The narrative centers on the unexpected alliance between Neha Rajvansh (played by Sinha), a public prosecutor, and Sarika Rawat (played by Jyotika), a courtroom stenographer from a modest background. According to the synopsis, “Despite their distinctly different social standings, they team up to fight for justice and truth, even if it means going up against the most powerful.”
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video in India, described System as “a powerful and thrilling drama that explores themes of ambition, justice, and ethics.” He expressed confidence that the film, featuring standout performances from Sinha and Jyotika, will resonate with global audiences upon its release.
The film adds to Prime Video India’s growing portfolio of original films, including The Mehta Boys, Maja Ma, and Ammu, although System will not have a theatrical release.
Harman Baweja, one of the producers, emphasized the film’s focus on two determined women from contrasting backgrounds, stating, “Brought to life through powerful performances, the movie reflects our shared vision of telling meaningful, cinematic stories.”
