Police Seek Public’s Help in Downtown LA Hit-and-Run Incident
Authorities are appealing for assistance in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a man in his 20s with severe injuries in downtown Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on January 9, as the driver of an unidentified vehicle struck the pedestrian who was crossing Eighth Street and then continued west toward Bixel Street without stopping.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics promptly transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department underscored the importance of responsible driving, reminding motorists that involvement in a collision necessitates pulling over and stopping safely, notifying emergency services, and remaining at the scene to identify themselves.
To aid in the investigation, a reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for any information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect.
