Penn Badgley’s Wife Domino Kirke Shares Her Experience with the Birth of Their Twins
Domino Kirke Reflects on the Journey of Motherhood Following Birth of Twin Sons
Domino Kirke, wife of actor Penn Badgley, recently shared her experiences surrounding the birth of their twin sons. In an emotional New Year’s Instagram post dated January 3, Kirke, 42, opened up about the challenges and triumphs of her pregnancy and labor, shortly after welcoming the twins last summer.
"It’s hard to summarize this past year in 20 pictures," Kirke wrote, highlighting her journey through pregnancy with a series of images depicting her growing belly and moments spent with Badgley, 39. She expressed the difficulties of capturing the year without showing her children’s faces, noting, "I don’t post pics of my kids on IG, but I mainly take pics of my kids."
Reflecting on the physical demands of giving birth to twins, Kirke stated, "Carrying them til 38 weeks was a victory, I hear, but my body wanted another month." She described navigating the complexities of the Medical Industrial Complex during her labor experience.
Kirke emphasized the importance of her midwife, who played a crucial role in guiding her and Badgley throughout the process. "16 years of doula work simply didn’t cut it," she quipped. Additionally, she expressed gratitude to a friend who supported the family during labor, noting the unexpected joys of their journey.
Living in New York City during her pregnancy presented its own set of challenges, particularly since Kirke had not experienced pregnancy in the city for nearly two decades. She reflected, "I was held so imperfectly by so many dear ones this time around, and so perfectly by so many unexpected ones."
In her message, Kirke also touched upon her recent album, The Most Familiar Star, which marked her first release in eight years. She had planned to tour for the album before discovering her pregnancy but decided to still share her work: "I made art inside and outside of my body. It couldn’t wait. They couldn’t wait."
Kirke concluded with a powerful sentiment: "Here’s to having no time and making art anyway. Here’s to being held imperfectly so you can learn to hold yourself better, so you can hold others imperfectly."
The announcement of the couple’s pregnancy came in February 2025 when Kirke excitedly revealed, "Babies #3 and #4 coming this Summer! Talk about a PLOT TWIST!" The twins were born later that summer, with the couple revealing their arrival in a September Instagram video from Badgley, who shared a glimpse of the newborns.
As Kirke navigates this new chapter of motherhood, her candid reflections resonate, highlighting the joys and challenges of family life.
