Olympics Leader Dismisses Casey Wasserman’s Links in Epstein Documents with Simple Response
Recent disclosures from the Jeffrey Epstein files have highlighted a previously unacknowledged relationship between LA28 Olympics Chief Casey Wasserman and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. However, International Olympic Committee (IOC) leaders have dismissed concerns regarding the potential impact of this revelation on the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics.
During a press conference on Sunday ahead of the Milan-Cortina Winter Games, IOC President Kirsty Coventry addressed inquiries about the correspondence between Wasserman and Maxwell. She stated, “We didn’t discuss it yesterday and I believe Mr. Wasserman has put out his statement, and we now have nothing further to add,” effectively attempting to quell the issue.
The scrutiny arose after a significant document release by the Department of Justice last week revealed emails from 2003 in which Wasserman, then married, engaged in suggestive conversations with Maxwell. In light of these revelations, Wasserman released a statement expressing regret for his prior communication with Maxwell, saying, “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light.” At the time of his exchanges with Maxwell, Wasserman’s wife was pregnant with their first child.
Wasserman further clarified, “I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.”
Though Wasserman has avoided allegations concerning Epstein’s trafficking and abuse of minors, the closeness of his relationship with Maxwell has raised concerns, especially given the significance of the upcoming Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
As Wasserman attends the XXV Winter Olympic Games in Italy, discussions regarding his future and any potential repercussions from the latest revelations appear to be nonexistent. An LA28 board member mentioned he hasn’t “heard” of anyone wishing to discuss Wasserman’s position. Another source associated with the LA28 board indicated that, “if anyone is trying to have that conversation with Casey, they haven’t had it yet, and I doubt they will.”
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics are set to take place from February 6 to 26 and will be broadcast on NBC and other Comcast-owned platforms.
