Odessa A’zion’s Early Success Revealed by Salary Details from 2018 Contract
Actress Odessa A’zion has enjoyed considerable success in her career, as evidenced by a recently obtained contract detailing her earnings for her role in the CBS sitcom Fam. The contract, dated 2018, outlines A’zion’s salary, which was substantial even before her more recent breakout roles.
A’zion, now 25, played a pivotal role in Fam, which aired for 13 episodes from January to April 2019 before being canceled after one season. The show featured notable co-stars Nina Dobrev and Sheryl Lee Ralph. In the series, A’zion portrayed Dobrev’s younger sister, whose return home sparks family drama.
According to the contract, A’zion was set to receive $37,500 for the pilot, which was filmed in April 2018. Her per-episode salary was slated to increase over the course of five seasons, starting at $37,500 for the first season and escalating to $50,253 if the series reached its seventh season.
The agreement also stipulated that A’zion would be responsible for participating in crossover episodes. It included a clause stating, “Performer agrees to render services as reasonably requested by Studio in connection with other series for the promotion of the Series.” Furthermore, any merchandise featuring her likeness would be subject to her approval, with CBS granted rights to use her image within certain limitations.

The contract also demanded A’zion’s presence at various promotional events, including Comic-Con and the Television Critics Association press tours. She was required to commit to at least two half-days of telephone interviews with television writers to promote the series.
While her role in Fam was brief, A’zion’s career has gained momentum since the show’s cancellation. She starred in the 2020 Netflix series Grand Army, appeared alongside Dakota Johnson in Am I OK?, and featured in the 2022 remake of Hellraiser. A’zion made a guest appearance in CBS’s sitcom Ghosts and gained widespread recognition in 2025 for her performances in HBO’s I Love LA and the film Marty Supreme alongside Timothée Chalamet.
A’zion’s upbringing in a showbiz family may have contributed to her early start in the industry. Her mother, Pamela Adlon, is a respected actress, comedian, and writer known for her roles in Californication, Louie, Better Things, and King of the Hill.
