In a significant move within the film industry, director Mike Flanagan has enlisted a recurring ensemble of actors for his upcoming project in the Exorcist franchise. This collaboration mirrors the approach taken by Ryan Murphy in his television productions. Among the eleven cast members are familiar faces from Flanagan’s previous works, including Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher. Notably, several actors in this lineup have also participated in Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game, and The Haunting series, among others.
While character specifics for the new additions remain undisclosed, the plot details of the upcoming Exorcist film, set for theatrical release on March 12, 2027, are similarly under wraps. Reports confirm that the film, currently being shot in New York City, will present an original narrative within the Exorcist universe, distinct from 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer.
Flanagan’s production team includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, Sasha Calle, and Diane Lane, further expanding an already notable cast.
In addition to directing and writing, Flanagan will produce the film through his Red Room Pictures. David Robinson from Morgan Creek Entertainment and Jason Blum from Blumhouse-Atomic Monster will join him as producers. Executive producers include Alexandra Magistro from Red Room Pictures and Ryan Turek from Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.
The diverse representation of talent among the cast further highlights the film’s ambitious scope, showcasing established and emerging actors alike. Kohli is represented by Artists First and McKuin Frankel Whitehead; Linklater by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment, and Sutton, Barth & Vennari; Bellows by Red Management, The Characters Talent Agency, and Mainstay Entertainment; Lumbly by Kass Management; Longstreet by Clear Talent Group and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz; Biedel by AKA Talent Agency and Aligned Talent Group; Sloyan by SDB Partners, 11:11 Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman; Siegel by Paradigm, Elysian Heights, and VanderKloot Law; Gallagher Jr. by Gersh and Yorn, Levine, Barnes; Pajak by The Carson Kolker Organization and Link Entertainment; and Gugino by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment, and Kopeikin Law.
