OCFA Helps Senior Cat Found Trapped Under a Family Fireplace
Senior Cat Rescued from Brick-Sized Hole in Seal Beach
A senior cat named Franny was successfully rescued by personnel from the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) after wedging herself into a narrow space beneath the fireplace of a Seal Beach home.
Franny, estimated to be between 9 and 11 years old, became stuck shortly after being adopted. According to OCFA, the playful feline decided to engage in a game of hide-and-seek, leading her to explore the hole. When her new owners realized they were unable to assist her, they reached out to firefighters for help.
Responding to the situation, Engine 44 arrived at the scene and executed a series of careful attempts to free the trapped cat. After several efforts, Franny was safely removed from her confined spot.
“We’re happy to report Franny is doing well and settling back in at home, hopefully staying out of tight spaces moving forward,” an OCFA spokesperson stated.
In light of this incident, the fire authority took the opportunity to remind the public that Animal Control can be contacted during urgent situations to ensure appropriate resources are deployed for pet rescues.
