The long weekend encompassing Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day proved to be vibrant for the box office, showcasing a diverse lineup of films and strong ticket sales.
Neon’s Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie is on track to earn approximately $1.25 million over the three-day weekend and is projected to reach $1.4 million for the four-day period across 365 theaters. The film follows Matt and Jay (played by Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol), who inadvertently travel back to 2008 amidst a botched plan to book a show at the Rivoli. It has received critical acclaim, holding a Certified Fresh score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience rating of 96%.
A24’s Pillion, directed by Harry Lighton, is also performing well in its second week, expanding to 24 screens. It is projected to gross $350.9k for the three-day weekend and $408.2k over four days, bringing its total to approximately $699k through Sunday and $756k by Monday. The Cannes Un Certain Regard Best Screenplay winner, featuring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling, has garnered strong word-of-mouth praise and sold-out screenings across various markets.
Samuel Goldwyn Films’ Cold Storage is thriving in over 1,000 theaters, expected to earn $1.1 million for the three-day weekend and around $1.3 million for the four-day period. The film, which portrays two young employees and a seasoned bioterrorism operative striving to survive a night filled with chaos caused by a mutating fungus, has resonated with audiences.

A24’s The Moment, featuring Charli XCX, expanded to 1,119 theaters in its third week, projected to earn $447.9k over the three days and $527.4k for the four days, leading to a domestic total of roughly $3.4 million through Sunday and an estimated $3.5 million through Monday. The film, directed by Aidan Zamiri, is based on an original concept by Charli XCX and co-written by Zamiri.
In the competitive wide-release landscape, independent films such as Solo Mio from Angel Studios, Briarcliff’s Good Luck Have Fund, Don’t Die, Markiplier’s self-distributed Iron Lung, and Dracula from Vertical stand at numbers 5, 7, 9, and 10, respectively.
Neon’s The Secret Agent, praised for its positive reception, is expected to earn $149k over the four-day weekend, bringing its cumulative total to $3.8 million. The distributor is also releasing Sirat on 7 screens (with a $244k cumulative total in week 2), Arco on 55 screens (totaling $931k in week 4), No Other Choice on 76 screens (with a cumulative total of $9.8 million in week 8), and Sentimental Value on 206 screens (approximately $5 million in week 15).
In limited release, GKids’ live-action film Kokuho played on 5 screens in its second week, earning an estimated $32.7k over the four-day weekend, bringing its cumulative total to $180.7k.
Janus Films’ The Love That Remains grossed approximately $32k on 25 screens in its third week, resulting in a new cumulative total of $86.7k for the four-day weekend.
Additionally, Searchlight Pictures’ The Testament of Ann Lee remains in 80 locations, grossing $41k in its eighth week, with a cumulative total reaching $2.5 million by Monday.
Willa’s The Voice of Hind Rajab, in theaters since December 17, accrued $18.k over the weekend across 55 screens, contributing to a cumulative total of $813k.
A Poet, from 1-2 Special, grossed $32.7k across 27 screens in its third week, resulting in a cumulative total of $153.7k.
