Los Angeles County Expands RV Parking Restrictions
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. – Los Angeles County roads will soon see increased restrictions on extended parking for recreational vehicles (RVs) as part of a new ordinance aimed at addressing issues related to unsanitary conditions and visible obstructions.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has preliminarily approved measures to expand parking restrictions for non-conforming vehicles, including RVs. This change comes in response to concerns raised by residents who argue that these large vehicles not only block visibility at intersections and driveways but also contribute to limited street parking and create a "visual blight" in their neighborhoods. Additionally, locals have reported that RV activity can lead to heightened crime, illegal dumping, and sanitary issues.
The expanded restrictions will affect areas within East LA, Willowbrook, Lennox, West Athens, and several other residential streets across the county.
While many residents support this initiative, RV owners have expressed concerns regarding their limited options for parking. One individual living in an RV highlighted the need for more outreach and connection to housing opportunities available through the county’s Pathway Home Pilot Program.
A final vote on the ordinance is anticipated next week. If approved, the new restrictions will take effect 30 days after the vote.
