Netflix is Adapting Navessa Allen’s Dark Romance Novels into a New ‘Lights Out’ Series, with Hannah Schneider as the Writer
EXCLUSIVE: Bestselling author Navessa Allen’s acclaimed dark romance novel Lights Out is set to be adapted into a television series by Netflix.
Hannah Schneider, known for her work on Why Women Kill, Accused, and The Waterfront, will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the adaptation. Peter Chernin and Tracey Cook from Chernin Entertainment will also take on executive producer roles, along with Allen herself.
Originally published in 2024, Lights Out gained a massive following on BookTok. The story follows Aly, a trauma nurse, whose fantasies become reality when a masked vigilante hacker named Josh breaks into her home. This encounter ignites a passionate and perilous romance that blurs the lines between desire, obsession, and reality.
Lights Out is the inaugural installment of Allen’s Into Darkness series, released under Slowburn, a division of Zando. The second book, Caught Up, debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list following its release in June 2025. The third book, titled Game On, is set to be published on March 31.
