Keshet International Teams Up with Sony Pictures TV for Exciting ‘Save The Date’ Remake with Dana Fox
Keshet International and Sony Pictures Television Strike First-Look Deal
Keshet International has entered into a first-look agreement with Sony Pictures Television, granting the latter multi-year rights to develop and produce English-language adaptations of titles from Keshet’s scripted catalog. This partnership will leverage the capabilities of Keshet Studios, the Israeli company’s U.S.-based production arm.
The inaugural project under this agreement is the U.S. remake of the acclaimed romantic comedy series Save the Date from Keshet 12. Dana Fox, known for her work on Wicked: Part One and Wicked: For Good, is set to act as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the adaptation, having recently signed an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television.
In addition to adaptations, Keshet Studios, led by Peter Traugott since its establishment in 2014, will collaborate with Sony on developing original scripted series.
Save the Date follows Dassy, a successful wedding planner who unexpectedly finds herself single. When a love spell from her grandmother goes awry, Dassy must navigate the complexities of juggling suitors from both her past and present, leading her to seek her own happily ever after.
The original series features Tomer Capone from The Boys and Adi Havshush as Dassy. It airs on Keshet 12, Israel’s most-watched television network, and has been renewed for a second season after becoming the highest-rated drama in Israel for 2024.
The series was produced by Tedy Productions and Reisdor, created by Ori Gross, Yoav Tsafir, Tmira Yardeni, Tamara Salem, and Tamar Marom, with Eitan Zur directing. It has garnered international interest, having been sold to Netflix in Israel and across more than a dozen territories, including adaptations in Greece and Germany.
Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, praised Keshet for its innovative storytelling and global reach. "We’re thrilled to partner with Avi [Nir], Keren Shahar, Peter, and their teams, who consistently deliver top-tier global content," she stated. "We’re especially excited to have the incredible Dana Fox join our first project with them."
Fox is also developing a high-profile adaptation of the popular murder mystery board game Clue under her Sony TV contract.
Keren Shahar, CEO of Keshet International, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: "Keshet and Sony are both known for high-quality, bold, and distinctive content. Collaborating with Katherine and the talented team at Sony feels like the perfect fit and a natural next step for Keshet Studios."
This collaboration comes after a decade of first-look deals with Universal Television, which resulted in series such as La Brea on NBC and The Baker and The Beauty on ABC. Outside of these deals, Keshet Studios has produced numerous acclaimed series, including Echo 3 on Apple TV and A Small Light with ABC Signature for National Geographic and Disney+.
Peter Traugott emphasized the significance of this new chapter for Keshet Studios, noting the inspiring creative collaboration with Sony’s teams, particularly with their first project featuring Dana Fox.
Keshet International and Keshet Studios are represented by WME, while Fox is represented by UTA and Myman Greenspan Fox.
