Netflix and Left Bank Introduce New Training Program for ‘Dept. Q’
Netflix and Left Bank are launching a training programme aimed at nurturing the next generation of Scottish talent through the popular series Dept. Q.
The show, which has garnered significant success for the streaming service, will provide 20 paid trainee roles for local professionals when production begins later this year.
In partnership with Left Bank, Sony Pictures and Screen Scotland will also support the programme, which aims to create meaningful, paid entry-level opportunities in various on-set and production roles. The trainees will engage with multiple departments across the production.
Dept. Q has emerged as one of Netflix’s standout UK series, featuring Matthew Goode and Chloe Pirrie. The storyline revolves around a top detective, recently injured, as he endeavors to solve cold cases.
Anne Mensah, Netflix UK content boss, remarked, “Dept. Q has always benefitted from the incredible depth of talent in Scotland, both on and off screen. With this programme, we’re proud to build on that foundation, working with Left Bank Pictures, Sony Pictures Television, and Screen Scotland to create opportunities for emerging Scottish talent to gain hands-on experience on a major production and begin building lasting careers in the industry.”
Last year, Scottish talent drew national attention amid controversy regarding the local crew’s involvement in The Traitors, a series set in a Scottish castle but produced by a London-based company.
