Music Takes Center Stage as Deadline’s Sound & Screen Television Kicks Off Awards Season
This year’s roster of composers showcases an impressive lineup, featuring notable talents from various productions. Among them is Jeff Russo, a founder of Tonic and former member of Low Stars, recognized for his work on FX’s Alien: Earth. Emmy-winning composer Amanda Jones, known for her contributions to Apple TV’s Murderbot, will also be presenting. Siddhartha Khosla is set to take the stage to discuss his score for Imperfect Women, which highlights performances from Elisabeth Moss, Kerry Washington, and Kate Mara.
Netflix has a strong presence tonight with two highlights: Beef and Wednesday. Finneas O’Connell, an acclaimed artist with two Oscars, two Golden Globes, and 11 Grammys, will share insights on his scoring for the highly anticipated second season of Beef. Meanwhile, two-time Emmy nominee Chris Bacon, whose portfolio includes Source Code, Heretic, and Alpha and Omega, will elaborate on the evolution of Wednesday‘s gothic score.
Renowned composer Jeff Beal, known for House of Cards and The Newsroom, will also discuss his process behind creating the music for Peacock’s All Her Fault, featuring stars Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning.
Additionally, Christopher Lennertz and Matt Bowen return to shed light on their work for Prime Video’s edgy superhero series The Boys. Tyler Strickland will recount the emotional journey involved in scoring John Candy: I Like Me, a documentary that explores the legacy of the iconic Canadian comedian.
Breton Vivian, who received an Emmy nomination for his contributions to Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, will share insights about composing for Sheridan’s latest Paramount+ series, The Madison.
The HBO Max series The Pitt, recently awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, will feature composers Gavin Brivik and Andrew Bird, who will discuss their creation of the show’s original song “Need Someone.”
Finally, David Archuleta, Sophie Rose, and Michael Blum will talk about their original song “Wish That You Were Me” for Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.
