Michael Rapaport Contemplates Missing ‘The Traitors’ Season 4 Reunion and Shares Thoughts on Colton Underwood’s Remarks
Michael Rapaport has hinted that he may not attend the reunion of The Traitors Season 4, following his recent departure from the competition on Peacock.
In an interview on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Rapaport expressed uncertainty about his attendance. "Well, I wanted to give you an exclusive here because it’s you. Now, I don’t know if I’m gonna come to the reunion to be totally honest with you," he stated.
Reunion host Andy Cohen suggested that Rapaport’s presence would be important. Rapaport responded, "I don’t know. You know why, Andy? Because, you know, I feel like, you know, everybody got to know me. Like when people are like, you know, acting like I’m some freak, it’s offensive to me because we spent…”
Cohen remarked that the reunion would be the ideal setting for Rapaport to discuss the events with his co-stars, to which Rapaport replied that he would need to "think about it."
Rapaport, known for being one of the most vocal contestants this season, left the show after a contentious exchange with former Bachelor star Colton Underwood. The disagreement stemmed from Rapaport’s remarks regarding secrets, which were perceived by others as a reference to Underwood’s past struggles with his sexuality. This comment received backlash from fellow contestants.
“I’ll tell you. I didn’t know anything about his life, and I certainly, I didn’t know about some of the things that he’s been involved with. I would never bring that up. I wasn’t even talking about The Bachelor,” Rapaport clarified. “I was riffing. I felt that he was a traitor. He had come out after Tiffany the night before. He was wrong. I thought it was arrogant as a traitor, not as a person. I felt like it was arrogant as a player on the show to try to ring lead after me, and I got defensive. I was riffing.”
He elaborated, “I was talking about conniving, colluding, cowardly, commiserating, and you know, the words lying, truth, secrets, fighting, dishonest, are thrown around all throughout that show…the word that I used against him, secretive, you know, backfired.”
Reflecting on the incident, Rapaport noted that he apologized to Underwood during the altercation and expressed regret over his comments. “I know what my intentions were. I know what my heart is. I am not, I was flowing. I was talking trash. You know, nothing was taken outta context. Like I said, I felt bad.”
Rapaport reached out to Underwood after filming concluded, saying they had a "great conversation." He added, “He actually reached out to me Friday when the episodes aired to see how I was doing, so there’s not a beef and I’m not a perfect person. I’m not a malicious person. I know what’s in my heart. All I could do is apologize. I certainly didn’t wanna bring any drama to him and his young family."
Additionally, Rapaport discussed the viral memes surrounding his time on The Traitors, specifically the shovel-eating content that gained traction online.
