Melissa Fumero Joins Matthew Gray Gubler in CBS Series ‘Einstein’
Melissa Fumero Cast as Female Lead in CBS’s Upcoming Series Einstein
CBS has announced that actress Melissa Fumero, known for her role in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, will star as the female lead in its upcoming original series Einstein. Fumero will appear alongside Matthew Gray Gubler, who portrays Lewis Einstein, the great-grandson of the renowned physicist Albert Einstein. The show is set to debut in the 2026-2027 broadcast season, with production kicking off this month.
In Einstein, Fumero takes on the role of Teri, a diligent Detective Inspector for the New Jersey State Police. Teri is depicted as sharp and disciplined, holding high expectations not only for her colleagues but also for herself. Her character experiences internal conflict as she navigates her partnership with Professor Einstein.
The series centers around Lewis Einstein, a once-promising scholar who has become somewhat aimless in his life as a tenured professor at Princeton University. When his reckless behavior leads him into legal troubles, he is compelled to assist Teri in solving challenging criminal cases. This dynamic provides Lewis with the opportunity to channel his intellect in a more meaningful direction.
The ensemble of Einstein is backed by a team of executive producers that includes Andy Breckman, Randy Zisk, Michael Rauch, among others, with Gubler also serving as a producer. The production is facilitated by CBS Studios.
Melissa Fumero, who has earned a Screen Actors Guild nomination for her performances, recently portrayed Birdie in NBC’s Gross Pointe Garden Society. She began her career as Adriana Cramer on ABC’s One Life to Live and has appeared in over 200 episodes. Fumero’s other television credits include Blockbuster, Good Girls, One Day at a Time, and The Mentalist.
Additionally, she is set to star in the thriller Red Dirt, which is currently in pre-production. The film centers on two brothers who reconnect after a tragic family incident.
