Kelly Marie Tran, known for her role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, stars alongside Ilia Isorelýs Paulino from The Sex Lives of College Girls, Ashley Reyes of Walker, and Jamie Neumann from The Deuce, in the upcoming film Quads & The Kicker.
Ranch Productions has officially commenced principal photography on this neo-noir thriller, which is written and directed by Heidi James. The film draws inspiration from Andy Rooster Bloch’s Off-Broadway play Never The Same Rhyme Twice and is currently being shot in Flagstaff, Arizona. Set against a backdrop of female poker grifters, the narrative explores a once-unbreakable sisterhood that begins to fracture due to shifting alliances and the complexities of a triple-con.
Filming is taking place at executive producer Dean Stoecker’s handcrafted cabin, as well as various locations across Northern Arizona. The project is produced by Michael Downey, Dave McVeigh, and Heidi James, with Stoecker serving as executive producer. Key creative roles include choreographer Monika Felice Smith, original songs by Molly Venter of Goodnight Moonshine, and a score composed by Keefus Ciancia, known for his work on True Detective. Cinematography is led by Luka Bazeli, the production design is handled by Adri Siriwatt, and Saro Bonnin serves as the first assistant director.
James commented on the rehearsal process, stating, “The luxury of time—to really connect and explore—is something we don’t often allow ourselves anymore. I wanted to build something that reflects a way of being before everything became immediate.”
Stoecker noted the significance of the project, remarking, “This marks our second film under the Ranch Productions banner. We’re drawn to visceral, unique, hybrid-genre projects like Quads & The Kicker and have an exciting slate to follow.”
The cast is represented by notable agencies, ensuring a robust promotional presence as the film continues its production journey.
