Maserati Driver Wanted After Fatal Hit-and-Run in Sherman Oaks
Elderly Man and Dog Killed in Sherman Oaks Hit-and-Run
LOS ANGELES – A tragic hit-and-run incident in Sherman Oaks claimed the lives of an 80-year-old man and his dog late Tuesday night. The collision involved a Maserati and occurred just after 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Moorpark Street.
Authorities report that the man and his dog were struck while the Maserati was traveling northbound on Woodman Avenue. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the man to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The dog was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the driver of the Maserati fled, abandoning the severely damaged vehicle in a nearby neighborhood. The vehicle has since been recovered by police.
As investigators work to identify the driver, they have not disclosed the name of the 80-year-old victim. It remains unclear if the Maserati was reported stolen prior to the crash.
Police are processing the vehicle for DNA and fingerprint evidence in hopes of locating the driver. Additionally, investigators are canvassing the area for doorbell camera footage or business surveillance that may have recorded the driver fleeing the scene.
