Maggie Gyllenhaal’s ‘The Bride!’ Set to Premiere on HBO Max
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s reimagining of Frankenstein, titled The Bride!, is slated for release on HBO Max on May 22. The film features Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale in leading roles, presenting a Gothic romance that promises to captivate audiences.
Following its debut on the streaming platform, The Bride! will air on HBO linear on Saturday, May 23, at 8:00 p.m. ET. An ASL version will also be available on HBO Max, ensuring accessibility for a wider audience.
Released by Warner Bros. on February 26, the narrative unfolds in 1930s Chicago, where a lonely Frank (Bale) seeks the expertise of pioneering scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion. The scientists revive a murdered young woman, giving life to The Bride (Buckley). What follows is a tale filled with unexpected twists, including murder, possession, a radical cultural movement, and an outlaw romance that defies conventions.
Gyllenhaal not only directed the film but also penned the script. The cast is further enriched by performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Penélope Cruz.
