LAPD Investigates Reports of Sexual Assaults at Silver Lake Reservoir
Silver Lake Community on High Alert After Reports of Sexual Assaults
LOS ANGELES – Residents near the Silver Lake Reservoir are increasingly concerned following a series of sexual assaults in the area, prompting an urgent response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The suspect has been dubbed the "Silver Lake Groper," and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities are looking into at least two incidents where women reported being groped while exercising. The first attack occurred around 8:45 p.m. on March 25, when a 25-year-old woman was approached from behind and assaulted. The suspect fled the scene immediately after, and his whereabouts remain unknown. A second incident took place on April 18 at approximately 5 p.m., involving a 33-year-old woman who was also targeted while jogging in the park.
In light of these troubling events, the Northeast Division of the LAPD has heightened security measures at the reservoir. Officers are now conducting foot patrols and increasing their visibility to enhance safety for visitors. Additionally, warning signs have been placed around the area to alert the community.
"In response to these reported incidents, Northeast Division implemented proactive steps to address the matter and ensure the safety of visitors to the Silver Lake Reservoir," stated the LAPD. They are urging any potential victims or witnesses to reach out to investigators.
Despite the increased security efforts, a detailed description of the suspect has not been released as of Friday, leaving many in the community on edge. The LAPD continues its search for leads in hopes of apprehending the individual responsible for these assaults.
