Kristin Davis and Mario Cantone Share Their Thoughts on the Ending of And Just Like That: A Series Finale or a New Beginning?
Kristin Davis and Mario Cantone recently shared their thoughts on the series finale of And Just Like That…, expressing sentiments that many viewers have echoed. In a recent episode of Davis’s podcast, Are You a Charlotte?, the duo discussed how the ending of the Sex and the City spinoff felt less like a proper conclusion and more like a continuation.
“I just wanted one more season,” Cantone remarked, with Davis adding her agreement, stating, “I absolutely wanted one more season too.”
Cantone, who portrayed Anthony Marentino, did not hold back his feelings: “I don’t care what anybody says. That was not a series finale. It was a season finale, but that wasn’t a series finale.”
Davis, meanwhile, revealed that she had not yet watched the final episode, admitting to still being “in denial” and wanting to hold onto that feeling. “I would like to remain that way,” she said.
Reflecting on their experience, Davis noted the confusion she and her co-stars felt about the conclusion. “We were like, ‘Wait, what did we do in the series finale?’ And we couldn’t really remember, which is not a good sign,” she said.
“This is not based on anything real,” she continued. “In my mind, we’re going to do something else. I don’t think it’ll be a whole season, but I think we will do something else.”
Following the finale, Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, hinted at the possibility of her character’s return. Speaking in an interview, she emphasized the importance of considering the integrity of the experience. "I think it’s out of respect for this really singular professional experience that you have to consider what you want to do, have you done it,” Parker said during an appearance on CBS Mornings. “Sometimes it’s best to gracefully walk away when things feel really right and energetic, versus squeezing and exploiting people’s generosity and hospitality.”
Parker acknowledged uncertainty surrounding her future plans, adding, “I’m not certain I understand what that decision means, because I could just be on hiatus.”
