Kismet Media Partners with Wheelhouse Ahead of ‘Calabasas Confidential’ Launch
Kismet Media has announced a partnership with Wheelhouse, coinciding with the upcoming premiere of its reality series Calabasas Confidential. The new show will debut on Netflix on May 29.
Founded in 2022 by Ally Gasparian and Alex Rosenberg, Kismet Media has quickly made a name for itself, with Rosenberg’s previous experience encompassing popular series such as Vanderpump Rules, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and The Bachelor franchise.
The collaboration aims to leverage Kismet’s skills in producing and casting alongside Wheelhouse’s resources in production, investment, and brand development. The two entities plan to cooperate closely with Wheelhouse’s Spoke Studios and its various sub-brands, including Wheelhouse Sports and DGN Studios, founded by David Grutman.
Calabasas Confidential follows a group of lifelong friends who return to Calabasas, California, after college for a summer filled with unresolved dramas and future uncertainties.
The cast features familiar faces, often referred to as "nepo babies," including Alexie Epstein, Ben Favaedi, Dylan Wolf, and Jodie Woods, among others.
Gasparian and Rosenberg serve as executive producers for the series, collaborating with Wheelhouse’s Gardner Reed, Brent Montgomery, Courtney White, Will Nothacker, and Bill Dixon.
Netflix’s excitement for the series is reflected in comments from Jeff Gaspin, Vice President of Unscripted Content, who noted Calabasas’s appeal to younger audiences. “When someone in their 20s comes to visit Los Angeles, there are two places they want to go… It kind of blows my mind,” Gaspin remarked, referencing the area’s shift in popularity.
In addition to Calabasas Confidential, Kismet Media is also developing projects with Bravo and E!.
Reflecting on their vision, Gasparian and Rosenberg stated, “At Kismet, we’re focused on bold, young, and character-driven storytelling." They expressed gratitude for Wheelhouse’s support, emphasizing their shared vision. Wheelhouse Entertainment President Courtney White echoed this sentiment, praising the unique talents of Gasparian and Rosenberg in navigating today’s dynamic content landscape.
