Kid Rock Clarifies His Turning Point USA Halftime Performance Was Pre-Recorded, Not Lip-Synced
Kid Rock Addresses Lip-Synching Accusations After Super Bowl Halftime Show
Kid Rock is addressing accusations of lip-synching during the "All-American Halftime Show" hosted by Turning Point on Super Bowl Sunday. Following the live performance, some viewers raised concerns about the authenticity of his vocals.
In an Instagram video posted on February 10, two days after the event, Kid Rock denied claims that he used a pre-recorded track, clarifying that while his performance was recorded in advance, it was not aired live. He attributed the confusion to a misalignment of audio and video during post-production, particularly during his rendition of the rapid-fire track "Bawitdaba."
“If I was ever going to lip-synch, which I wouldn’t, that would be the last song I would ever … do it to,” he stated, standing alongside his DJ, Paradime. “We’ve performed this song every night on tour since 1998.”
Acknowledging the challenges of syncing audio, Kid Rock expressed confidence that the performance would have been flawless with more time for editing. “That song takes so much energy. I’m flipping mics, I’m jumping around like a rabid monkey on stage. … Nobody’s perfect or gets it right every time,” he noted.
In the video, Kid Rock also demonstrated the difficulty of performing "Bawitdaba" live, explaining how Paradime assists with the lyrics to allow him to catch his breath between verses. He insisted, however, that he executed the performance live while pre-filming and criticized what he termed “fake news media” for perpetuating the lip-synching narrative.
“The problem is people amplify this all over the internet,” he remarked, drawing parallels to a similar controversy involving Bad Bunny. “They do it far too often, especially in the fake news media, the left-wingers, crazy libt–ds.”
Kid Rock was part of a lineup that included Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, performing at Turning Point’s first-ever halftime show, designed as a counterprogram to Bad Bunny’s official NFL performance. The alternative concert attracted approximately 6.1 million concurrent live viewers.
