### Kendra Scott Shares Engagement Journey and Family Dynamics with Zac Brown
Kendra Scott is overjoyed following her engagement to musician Zac Brown last July, just three months after the couple made their red-carpet debut at the American Music Awards. The jewelry designer expressed her excitement and shared insights about how Brown had to earn the approval of her three sons.
Scott, 51, revealed that Brown, known for his hit song “Chicken Fried,” had to navigate the protective nature of her sons, Cade, 24, Beck, 21, and Gray, 12. “They’re very protective of me,” she stated with a laugh, explaining that her boys put Brown through a rigorous evaluation process.
“Sometimes I’m like, ‘Boys, calm down.’ But they put Zac through the wringer! He really had to prove himself to those boys, that’s for sure,” Scott noted. She reassured that, despite the initial hurdles, her sons have developed a strong bond with Brown and are eagerly anticipating the upcoming wedding.

Brown, who has five children of his own, also knows the complexities of blending families. The singer’s children include daughters Justice, 18, Lucy, 17, Georgia, 15, Joni, 14, and son Alexander, 11.
Reflecting on her relationship with her own sons, Scott emphasized their close bond, shaped significantly by their experiences as a family. “With my being a single mom a lot of our lives, the bond that I have with them is so strong,” she shared. “Before I got my first investor, money was tight a lot of the time, and they remember those times, so we’re all so grateful for everything that’s happened.”

Scott’s emotional connection with her sons was palpable as she recalled a recent conversation with her oldest, Cade. “He said, ‘Mom, I’m so proud of you. You’ve never given up… you just persevered through it all,'” she reflected, appreciating her sons’ supportive nature.
Proud of her children’s character, Scott added, “They’re amazing… they’re kind and thoughtful, and they care so deeply about people. They’re all the things you hope that your kids will turn out to be.”
Still closely bonded, Scott enjoys spending quality time with her sons, whether they’re riding horses, fishing, or even cooking together. “It’s funny; they’ll call and be like, ‘What are we doing this weekend?’ So we’re always hanging out together. They’re my best friends,” she concluded, emphasizing the joy of family togetherness.
