JPEGMAFIA Shares News About His Upcoming Album and 2026 Tour
JPEGMAFIA has announced the release of his new album, EXPERIMENTAL RAP, set to drop on May 21. The artist will accompany the album with an extensive North American tour in 2026. Ahead of this release, he has unveiled the lead single, “babygirl,” which is now available for streaming.
The forthcoming album is entirely written, mixed, and produced by JPEGMAFIA. It promises to be a broad exploration of modern musical influences, blending elements of gospel, industrial, and underground rap to capture the complexities of contemporary society.
“babygirl” showcases JPEGMAFIA’s continued commitment to genre-blurring artistry. The single combines rock, rap, and punk genres, characterized by high-energy production and incisive lyrics. It opens with a dramatic looped vocal sample from Saul Williams’ 2007 track, “tr(n)igger,” asking, “What you gonna do, what you gonna do?”
The music video for “babygirl,” co-directed by Logan Fields and JPEGMAFIA, features a striking visual narrative. It portrays a lone, nude figure amidst a group of military-clad women, who salute her with precision before entering an abandoned industrial building. As the music intensifies, the video transitions from color to monochrome, culminating with the group shedding their blindfolds, symbolizing liberation in the rain.
In conjunction with the album announcement, JPEGMAFIA revealed details for “The Experimental Rap Tour,” which includes 20 dates across North America. The tour kicks off on September 22 in Spokane, WA, and will visit major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto, before concluding in Atlanta on October 24. Supporting acts for the tour will include redveil and matt proxy.
A pre-sale for fans begins on Tuesday, May 5, at 10:00 a.m. local time, followed by a Live Nation pre-sale at 12:00 p.m. local time the same day. General ticket sales will open on Wednesday, May 6, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
