During the interview, Ciara reflected on how TikTok has enabled her music to reach younger, new audiences. “I have been very fortunate that pretty much all of my songs have, you know, rang really loud throughout the years … and have actually been a lot of the trending songs [on TikTok] over the past years, which has been a blessing and it keeps me young, which I love,” she said.
She expressed particular joy in hearing younger generations discover her classics. “There’s nothing better than when you hear my family members or young teenagers say, ‘I just heard [2006’s] ‘Get Up’ for the first time.’”
“I’m like, ‘Where you’ve been at?’” she joked, adding that such moments bring her immense happiness. “They make me smile so big because I feel like it helps me stay connected as an artist. And it’s very motivating … I can never get enough of [2018’s] ‘Level Up’ just continuing to trend and re-trend, you know?”
As an independent artist, Ciara noted the pride she feels seeing her music celebrated by fans globally. “It’s just been a blessing when you put out music and your fans love it and the whole world sings it with you and it trends on platforms like TikTok. So, really proud of that,” she stated.
The mother of four also addressed the challenges of navigating social media while maintaining her privacy. “You have to roll with your gut when you do posts. I think fun things are always cool. And it’s one of those things where you just know what’s right and wrong, you know?” she explained.
She added, “You don’t want to really show locations … sometimes because, you know, people be up in the mix, and you never know who might try to pull up on you. So I try to be mindful of stuff like that. But I think if we’re spreading love and joy and good vibes in the world, then the TikToks are all good.”
