Amid skepticism expressed by an Instagram user regarding whether Nick Jonas was genuinely playing guitar at a recent concert, the Jonas Brothers’ backline technician, Michael Moschella, has stepped in to defend him.
On January 10, a split-screen video posted on Instagram showed Nick performing guitar for DNCE’s “Cake by the Ocean.” The user accompanying the video raised his eyebrows skeptically before showcasing himself playing the song’s melody.
The caption of the post read, “Real playing…,” casting doubt on Nick’s performance accuracy.
In response, Moschella clarified in a comment that Nick does not play lead guitar for “Cake by the Ocean,” which features Joe Jonas and guitarist JinJoo. He emphasized, “As Nick’s guitar tech, I can assure you at all times his guitar is connected; he is playing the song.” He further explained that Nick is included in the front-of-house audio mix heard by the audience, stating, “This song specifically though, he just plays rhythm power chords and backs the band guitarist who plays the lead parts as it’s a DNCE song that he isn’t featured on.”
The Jonas Brothers recently concluded their JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour, wrapping up 75 shows in North America to promote their latest album, Greetings from Your Hometown.
