Rita Wilson Joins Jennifer Garner in The Last Thing He Told Me
Rita Wilson has been cast in the second season of The Last Thing He Told Me, where she will portray the mother of Jennifer Garner’s character, Hannah Hall. This announcement comes as Garner celebrated the release of Laura Dave’s new book, The First Time I Saw Him, which serves as the foundation for the upcoming season.
During a recent Q&A event, Garner humorously addressed the age difference between her and Wilson, stating, “Rita is not old enough to be my mother.” Garner, aged 53, acknowledged the dynamic of Hollywood casting, where perceived age boundaries are often stretched.

Garner further noted the close age gap, revealing they are only 16 years apart, and encouraged fans, “Don’t look too much into it.” However, she hinted at the complexity of their on-screen relationship, suggesting that it will add depth to the narrative.
The first season of The Last Thing He Told Me introduced viewers to Hannah and her stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) as they navigated the fallout from the sudden disappearance of Hannah’s husband, Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). The second season will feature a time jump in the storyline, as Owen returns after five years on the run.
Season 2 premieres on February 20 on Apple TV, with a new plot unfolding around Hannah and Bailey’s journey to reunite their family amid looming challenges.

Additionally, Judy Greer will be joining the cast for the new season, marking a reunion with Garner from their earlier collaboration on the 2004 film 13 Going on 30. While in Paris for filming, the two actresses enjoyed time off-set exploring the city together.
Season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me is set to air on Apple TV shortly, promising to unravel new layers in the show’s narrative.
