- Jenna Fischer celebrated “finally” having enough hair to style into a bob by showing off her new do on social media.
- “The whole thing was an exercise in patience and surrender,” the *Office* alum said of her hair growth journey.
- Fischer revealed that she was diagnosed with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer in October 2024.
Jenna Fischer has shared a triumphant update about her hair on social media, posting photos that showcase her new bob haircut. This celebration comes just over two years after she publicly announced her diagnosis of stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer.
The 51-year-old actress expressed her joy on January 11, revealing that she finally has enough hair to style it into a bob. She shared a selfie along with another photo featuring her friend and hairstylist, Christi Cagle, who has been a vital support throughout her journey.
“Thank you to my hair fairy @christikaycagle,” she wrote. “She has been with me every step of the way on this journey. She helped me get wigs, built me 4 custom hats with hair, gave me my first pixie, designed tiny clip-in extensions to help fill in the gaps for a photoshoot, helped me figure out how to deal with an all-new texture (my hair grew back thicker and more coarse after chemo) and now here we are!”
Fischer, known for her role in *The Office*, detailed the challenges of her hair growth journey, particularly for others facing similar circumstances. “I would google things like this all during chemo: When will my hair grow back? When will I have hair that looks intentional again?” she reflected. “The whole thing was an exercise in patience and surrender.”
A month after completing chemotherapy, she noticed “little bits of stubble” emerging on her head. By the third month, her hair had grown long enough for a pixie cut, leading to various “stages of insanity” as it continued to grow.
Earlier this year, Fischer shared another update that highlighted her curly brown hair, referring to her “messy uncontrollably curly post-chemo bangs.”

“They are giving me ‘80s vibes all day and I’m here for it,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post in April. “Positive comments only because it’s what they deserve. They are the best.”
This latest update follows Fischer’s reflection on the two-year anniversary of her cancer diagnosis. During a recent Thanksgiving trip to St. Louis, she shared a photo from a hotel room and acknowledged her journey.
“One year later. Same hotel. Longer hair,” she captioned her December 1 Instagram post. “It was exactly 2 years ago in December 2023 that I got the news I had breast cancer. All of my diagnosis and treatment dates are burned into my brain. These ‘anniversaries’ inspire reflection. I try to take a moment and sit with all that has happened.”
Fischer expressed gratitude for her health and family, saying, “I’m also very grateful for working. While 2024 was all about cancer treatments, 2025 has been a creative adventure.” She emphasized her thankfulness for being cancer-free and extended her love to those currently battling health issues. “To everyone else, please don’t skip your mammograms, colonoscopies and skin checks,” she advised.
