Iman is commemorating the legacy of her late husband, David Bowie, with a new tattoo, marking the tenth anniversary of his death.
On January 10, Iman, the renowned model and fashion icon, shared an emotional Instagram post that unveiled her fresh tattoo. She described it as a lasting tribute to the music legend, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 69.
In the post, Iman included a video documenting the tattoo’s creation. She wrote, “Jan 10th. The pain didn’t vanish .. it left in its place a loving permanent mark,” and added the hashtag #BowieForever.

The accompanying post featured Bowie’s song “Subterraneans,” from his 1977 album Low. While Iman did not elaborate on the tattoo’s specific design, she framed it as a heartfelt act of remembrance and a symbol of enduring love.
Bowie died on January 10, 2016, following an 18-month battle with cancer. His official Facebook page announced that he had “died peacefully today surrounded by his family” and requested respect for the family’s privacy during their time of grief.
Iman and Bowie first met in 1990 through a blind date and married two years later. They welcomed their daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, in August 2000. Iman has frequently spoken about the profound connection she shared with Bowie and how she continues to carry him in her heart.
In a 2021 interview with People, Iman expressed her feelings about their marriage after his passing. “I still feel married,” she stated. “Someone a few years ago referred to David as my late husband, and I said, ‘No, he’s not my late husband. He’s my husband.’ Through my memory, my love lives.”
Recently, Iman observed what would have been Bowie’s 79th birthday with an Instagram tribute, sharing a black-and-white photograph of the artist and writing, “Happy Heavenly Birthday. Your light burns so bright in all our hearts! We love and miss you.”
Alexandria Zahra Jones, now 25, also honored her father on social media, posting nostalgic photos and remarking, “Da big 79 today. Happy birthday pops, miss ya!”
